What You Need to Know About Relationship Therapy at the Center for Soulful Relationships in San Jose, CA

Making the decision to pursue relationship therapy at the Center for Soulful Relationships is a different and unique experience.

Here is some important information you need to know before deciding if the services I offer might be a good fit for you. Please read this information thoroughly before deciding if hopping on the phone for the next steps would be a good fit.

MY VIEW ON RELATIONSHIPS
At some point or another during our childhood years, we all created narratives and stories about ourselves and our ability to be loved. Usually these stories get created as a normal and natural response to the experiences we had in our interactions with our primary caregivers. These are the experiences that I call our wounds.

Every single one of us takes these wounds with us and carries them into every interaction we have throughout our lifetimes. Our closest and most intimate relationships, especially our romantic relationships, are where our wounds get played out and triggered the most.

The person you thought was perfect for you when Cupid’s arrow struck you all of a sudden changes and tension rises in your relationship. Rather than taking a look at what patterns are playing out in your relationship, you instead get mad and think, “This isn’t the person I fell in love with! They have changed!”

With that thought in your mind, you do everything in your power to try to get them to change into the person you want them to be.

If you’re lucky, you know that you have a great partner and you will do what you need to make it work.

If you’re not so lucky, you will likely break up and go out and find another relationship only slightly better than the last.

Either way, the pattern will continue to repeat and you will continue to feel unhappy and unfulfilled in your relationships.

Unless…you make the decision to learn what your patterns are so that you can shift them and do something else.

HOW I CAN HELP
When you have realized…

  • the pain is too much and you don’t care to lose yet another relationship that is important to you, or

  • you can’t go on living in a constant state of anxiety in or about your relationship, or

  • you are tired of being frustrated and alone,

-AND-

You are ready to do whatever it takes to stop your part of the relationship wound dance, I can help you understand what you do, why you do it, and how to break the cycle.

WHAT WORKING TOGETHER LOOKS LIKE
When you decide you are ready to work with me, you will schedule a brief Get Acquainted Call with me.

During our call you will help me understand a little bit better what you are going through and what your goals are, and I will share with you how I might be able to help.

If we agree that I might be able to help support you with what you are looking for, we will schedule an in-person initial visit in my San Jose office.

During your initial office visit we will get more clear about your needs, about how I can help, and which service offering would be the best fit. We will create a very clear expectation and goal and schedule the days and times to take the next steps.

My goal is to help you reach your goals as quickly and efficiently as possible. Because the work I do is not a band-aid approach, we will be diving in and going deep.

If we agree on weekly relationship therapy, you will make the commitment to participating weekly for at least 6-9 months.

If we agree on a private counseling intensive, we will decide how many days would be most helpful and effective.

If we agree that the service are not a good fit at this time, then I will provide you with a few referrals to others based on what you shared with me.

WHAT I EXPECT FROM YOU
I expect that you will suit up and show up and be ready to do the work.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM ME

WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?
• Weekly relationship therapy sessions for individuals start at $225 for a 50-minute session.

  • Ongoing couples therapy start at $405 for a 90-minute session.

  • Private intensives start at $3,600 for two days and includes one 90-minute follow up session.

  • The initial office visit fee for individuals is $270 (approximately 50 minutes) and $330 for couples (approximately 60-70 minutes).

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
No, I do not work directly with insurance companies. Due to the innovative nature of the service offering I provide, most insurance companies do not reimburse for counseling intensives/retreats. If you have a PPO with out of network benefits, the fee for your initial assessment and any regular office visits for individual therapy or couples counseling may be covered. Please check with your insurance company prior to scheduling if you are concerned.

WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?
I accept all payment methods, including cash, checks, and all major credit cards. HSA/FSA cards may be used for initial visit and on-going therapy, but unfortunately cannot be used for private retreats/intensives.

WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE IT IN TO THE OFFICE DURING YOUR OFFICE HOURS?
All initial visits must be done in person. After that, if we agree to weekly individual therapy, I offer virtual appointments, either via phone or online, to clients during my office hours. My clients enjoy the flexibility this provides them to be able to actively participate in therapy, while still tending to the demands of their jobs.

For couples work and any private intensives/retreats, those must be done in person during my regular office hours. For intensives I reserve Thursdays and Fridays. Most individuals and couples who choose to participate in intensives/retreats make arrangements with their work and childcare ahead of time and plan accordingly.

HOW CAN I SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?
The first step is to schedule your Get Acquainted Call via our online scheduler. At your selected appointment time you will receive a 15-minute phone call from me to learn more about your specific situation and how I can help. If we decide it is a mutually beneficial fit,  you will then be offered an appointment for an initial visit/assessment.
