Living with or loving someone who lives with Anxiety can be challenging. We invite you to lean into the scenarios below and notice if any of them feel familiar…
How dare you tell me how to arrange my schedule? I can manage may schedule better than you!
Behavior: Get defensive and stand-offish and push people away.
Anxiety, increases as school/work expectations aren't met, with more are on the way. But those who could help have been fought off…
“Honey I want to spend more time with you.”
“You’re clingy! I don’t want to see you anymore!”
Behavior: Shut others out and literally, run away.
Anxiety, results in avoidance, thus one tries escaping the situation to relieve the anxiety.
Week 1: The accountantcalled and wants to meet about the accounts.
Week 3: There is something about that accountant I don’t like. I should find a new accountant I trust. …
Week 10: These accounts are all screwed up, but I don’t want to talk to that accountant and I haven’t starting looking for a new accountant.
Week 12: I don’t know what to do about these accounts. I hate accountants. This sucks. How did I even get into this mess? I suck…
Behavior: Non action and being paralyzed with fear…especially as deadlines approach.
Anxiety about a problem results in inaction and avoidance, which can then spiral our thoughts out of control.
If any of these scenarios feel familiar, then we invite you to join us for our Fight, Flight, and Freeze: Creative Expression for Living with Anxiety Workshop Series.
We invite you to join us for this Creative Expression Workshop where we will explore and process the experience of living with or loving someone who lives with Anxiety. Our goals are to:
· increase understanding,
· process your experience, and
· share ways of coping as a group who live and work with Anxiety, or love those who do.
We will be using the creative expressions of Poetry and Art to help you tap into this space.
We will work from the perspective of the survival instincts: Fight, Flight, and Freeze. Each week when we meet, we will focus on one area for creative expression and exploration.
We will use a combination of Poetry and Art to help facilitate this healing process.
No art or poetry experience is required! We will use a technique called “low-skill, high sensitivity,” which allows you to get in touch with the sensation of your Anxiety and allow it to create for you. In other words: People with little to no artistic experience might get great benefit by participating in this group.
